THE ALABAMA RIVERBOAT!

JORDAN AND MITCHELL IN THE DINING ROOM
Jordan's 3rd grade class @ Bear Elementary Magnet School had their final field trip today. We took a ride and ate lunch on The Alabama Riverboat. I have never been on the boat so it was an AWESOME experience. We loaded the boat and had lunch in their dining area and they fed us hamburgers, baked beans, and chips! After we ate we were able to hang out on the 1st and 2nd deck (you can probably guess why they would not let us up on the 3rd deck...4 classes of 3rd graders!). LOL! We took a 1 hour tour down the Alabama River. I am soo happy it did not rain on us while on the boat, even though towards the end it did start to drizzle. Jordan was excited that he got to get a picture with the Captain. The kids enjoyed it and I will be taking our whole family back soon and maybe an evening for just me and the hubby! :)

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2009

MY LITTLE FISH!
KAELYN LOVES THE SLIDE!
MY HANDSOME BOY!
KAELYN IS SUCH A LITTLE ANGEL!
MY LIFE!
Well we all know what a rainy Memorial Day Weekend we had this year. We were going to do a cook-out Saturday but with all the rain we decided to sleep in and hang out in the house. Mark bought some UNO cards (that I am the champion of by the way) and now Jordan is addicted to UNO. Something that was sooo funny to me was Jordan would get a WILD card and choose a color he did not even have (he did it more than once) LOL! That is all he wants to play now. Kaelyn does not play right of course. She does not want to have a lot of the same color and she wants what colors are not dealt to her (typical 4-year-old I guess) She wants some of all the colors. LOL! We decided to go to Eastchase and walk around after the rain ceased to just get out of the house a little (the walls were starting to close in). Sunday we went to church and took my mother out for a late Mother's Day lunch to Olive Garden (her favorite restaurant), since my grandmother was in town during Mother's Day for my Mom's graduation and does not like Olive Garden. Monday I had to work several hours that morning and after I was finished we packed up to go to the Bell Road YMCA to swim where they have a kid's indoor pool and Jordan could go out to the outdoor pool and jump off the diving board. We were only able to stay about 45 minutes to an hour and then it started thundering so we had to get out and since we had to wait 30 minutes after every thunder we decided to leave. We took the kids by Bruster's and all got some YUMMY ice-cream (their New York Cheesecake Ice-cream is the best)! Then we came home and decided to grab some Mexican for supper and then just clean and relax the rest of the evening. Even though it was not a hot, sunny Memorial Day, we all enjoyed the time we spent together. Family time is wonderful RAIN or SHINE!

KAELYN'S GRADUATION!

I thought we would never say it but "We are through paying for Daycare/Preschool!" I know I should not say that too loud, but unless God has other plans we are THROUGH with babies. I cannot even tell you how much money we have spent on daycare in the last 9 years (and paying for 2 children during the summer). People have told me to cherish the moments because they grow up too fast and BOY do they! It seems like just yesterday I was holding Kaelyn in my arms as a newborn and now she is starting Kindergarten this Fall. She was the Mommy Bear in her K4 Graduation that had a Bedtime Stories Theme and she did such a wonderful job. It was a sad day but also a happy day to see my BABY perform on the stage. My dad is retiring next week and will be keeping the kids during the summer and helping with picking up from school which will be wonderful considering our work schedules. I did not really cry when Jordan started Kindergarten (because we were both used to the routine of dropping off all day) but I am sure I will cry my eyes out when I take Kaelyn on the first day. Not because she is my little girl but because it will be the last time I will ever drop a child off for Kindergarten. I am sooo hoping I do not eat my words! LOL!!!!

MY GYMNAST AND SOFTBALL PLAYER!!!!

My husband and I were athletic growing up so our children have tried all the sports you could imagine young children can play. Jordan (almost 10) has played baseball since he was 4 and made All Stars last year, but decided this year he did not want to play. Kaelyn (who will be 5 in July) had taken gymnastics for several months and Jordan would watch the boys while she was doing her class. Kaelyn started showing no interest in gymnastics so we decided to pull her out. Jordan was saying he wanted to take gymnastics. I knew that would not go over well with my husband. When it came time for baseball/softball sign-ups Kaelyn wanted to play softball and Jordan wanted to take gymnastics. We decided to let Jordan try gymnastics and see if he would really like it. He absolutely loves it. We never knew how strong he was. We decided that it should not be what we wanted them to do but for us to let them do what they wanted to do. So Kaelyn is our STAR softball player and Jordan is our STAR gymnast. Kaelyn has already hit 2 home runs this season and Jordan had a gymnastics meet and will be practicing with the Team this summer. He has only been taking classes for 2 months so we are very proud of him. We are so blessed to have such wonderful healthy children.
